  • Privacy Policy - What information do we collect and how do we obtain it?
    You may have often wondered what happens to the personal information businesses obtain about their customers. You may have asked yourself questions such as who is the information disclosed to and for what purpose? At www.marshallward.com, we are committed to protecting your privacy. We have published this data protection guide to ensure that you are fully aware of how and why we collect information from you, to whom such information is disclosed and what your rights are.

    What information do we collect and how do we obtain it?
    We receive information in one of two ways, either directly from you when you place an order with us or when you enter a prize draw or other promotion or from third parties, such as credit reference agencies (for example to assess your credit rating). If you place an order with us, we need to know your name, address, e-mail address and details of your credit or debit card number (only if paying up front) and telephone number (including mobile telephone numbers, this is so we can send SMS (Short Message Service) messages to your phone) so that we can process and fulfil your order, notify you of your order status and inform you of special offers and promotions. If you enter a prize draw, we need your name, address and e-mail address so that we can administer the prize draw and notify winners.

    How do we use your information?
    We use the information that we collect about you to:-

    process orders and enhance your overall shopping experience by providing you with a more personalised site;
    shape our recommendation about the items you may be interested in;
    monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us develop the design and layout of the store;
    occasionally notify you about enhancements to our services such as; functionality changes to the website, new marshallward.co.uk services and special features, offers or competitions we think you will find interesting; and
    keep you up to date with news of services offered by members of the Great Universal Stores Plc group of companies. Click here for futher details of these companies.

    If you apply for credit from us, as our contribution to responsible lending we search the files of Credit Reference Agencies who record the search. We will use a credit scoring or other automated decision-making system when assessing your application. We will check your details with fraud prevention agencies and if you give us false or inaccurate information and we suspect fraud, we will record this. Information about the conduct of your account is shared with these agencies.
    We and other organisations may use and search the records to:
    Help make decisions about credit and credit related services for you and other members of your household.
    Help make decisions on motor, household, credit, life and other insurance proposals and insurance claims, for you and other members of your household.
    Trace debtors, recover debt, prevent fraud and manage your accounts or insurance policies.
    Check your identity to prevent money laundering unless you furnish the credit grantor or insurer with other satisfactory proof of identity.
    Please telephone us on Freephone 0800 092 9054 if you want to have details of those credit reference and fraud prevention agencies from whom we obtain and with whom we record information about you. You have a legal right to these details.
